Wake up to a new normal.
Learn what Lifestyle Medicine is and how it can help you achieve your best health.
In this self-paced course from Dr. Lynn K. Wagner, you'll gain deeper insights into your everyday symptoms, learn to adjust to a new "normal", and discover which steps to take next on your holistic health journey.
The first step is simply becoming aware that something needs to change.
It’s not all your fault – you can blame your brain. It has accepted regularly-occurring health symptoms as “normal”. Symptoms like bloating, fatigue, irregularity, brain fog, insomnia, afternoon “crashes”, anxiety and mood imbalance might seem mild, but they could also be clues to a more deeply rooted issue.
Getting to the source of your symptoms will require you to be your own best health advocate. You’ll need a guide and a plan to get you on the path towards healing. In integrative medicine, we adopt a holistic philosophy where all areas of a person’s life are factored into their health plan. Each of us has a mind, body and spirit which play an important part in our overall wellbeing. Having just one area out-of-sync can affect your whole life.
Acceptance can be good, but it’s also why we struggle to make real, lasting changes. After a while, our brain simply accepts bad body signals as our “normal” output to the input.
By ignoring our body’s signals, over time they could contribute to chronic inflammation, which can lead to other symptoms that might seem unrelated at first. Chronic inflammatory triggers like high stress and poor sleep quality could also be creating chaos in the body. Why wait until it gets that far? How can you start to raise your awareness and ultimately create a new “normal” for yourself?
Clear focus, balanced energy and easy digestion sound more appealing than any symptom you’ve been settling for, right? Maybe, or maybe not. This is why holistic living is so important. We’re not just talking about food here.
When you adopt holistic lifestyle principles, you care and nurture your whole self even if you don’t see immediate results. This path to true health is more than just a pit stop – it’s a journey. There aren’t any shortcuts, but the simple shifts I will teach you can dramatically impact your health, wellbeing and feeling of purpose in the world.
I see patients from all stages and walks of life and I’ve learned while we all have our own struggles with daily choices, if we accept S.O.S. signals from our body as our “normal”, ultimately, we’re saying “yes” to feeling sick and “no” to living our healthiest lives.
By exploring areas of our own lives, we can start to see themes emerge and begin creating a custom plan that meets us right where we’re at.
I’m Dr. Lynn K. Wagner, an Emergency Board Certified and Integrative Lifestyle physician.
I’ve been in both the emergency department and I’ve sat across from patients experiencing chronic body pain on a daily basis. I know both sides of the health equation and I’ll be direct with you – deciding the best route for your health can be incredibly confusing and if you’re reading this, you’re hoping for some answers.
Does any of this sound familiar?
Take a journey with me for a moment, and imagine if:
I’ll share some of the same insights I give my patients when they come in for a one-on-one consultation.
In addition, you'll be equipped with journaling questions you can answer on your own to begin down your path towards healing.
After speaking with so many patients who want to heal from chronic illness, fatigue, persistent headaches, diabetes, auto-immune issues and so much more, I needed a way to package up what I know to help as many of you as possible. Relief is available, and it can be as simple as making a few lifestyle shifts in addition to what you’re already doing.
What is Your Holistic Life?
What will you gain from taking this course?
Right now, you might be thinking:
“I’m not spiritual.”
You don’t have to be spiritual to take the course. While I discuss spirituality in one of the videos, this is just one part of the wheel and while important, it’s your decision when you’ll work on which section.
“I’m an introvert.”
The course is designed to be reflective and completely self-led. You’ll complete the lessons at your own pace, by yourself. I do recommend reaching out in the Facebook group with any insights you gain or questions you have. Follow me on social media to get a sense of how I apply everything I teach in a practical, realistic way.
“I’m too busy.”
As a busy mom myself, everything I write or suggest is created with a busy lifstyle in mind. The course can be listened to while driving. Exercises are short and simple, you can realistically spend 15 minutes a day and make great strides. Also, if you need to take time away from the course, it’s yours to keep and you can view it at any time.
“I struggle to focus for too long.”
If you’re reading this, you likely already feel an imbalance in your life. Getting back to balance will require some dedication. The course is summarized into the perfect amount of information to start learning to commit and follow through on small action steps.
“Eating healthy is too hard.”
I pride myself in making clean eating fun and easy. No fancy diets, no starvation, fasting or restriction, simple good clean food. While you’ll get the basics on clean eating and how to get started, if you’re looking for a comprehensive food program that includes group coaching, check out Food for Fuel.
“But you don’t know my situation, it’s too complex.”
Any situation, no matter how complex can make a shift in the right direction with some simple lifestyle tools/hacks. Staying passive will leave you in your current situation, movement will begin to get you to grow, even small steps make a big difference!
The transformation I experienced was through the methods I introduce you to in this course. Each section of this course was part of my own personal journey and was instrumental in my self-discovery and in my career.
For several years, after the birth of my first daughter, I took antidepressants for my mood. I thought I would always suffer from depression! After an injury temporarily took me out of the Emergency Room, I was forced to take several weeks off from patient care.
During this time off, I went through a personal transformation that included utilizing alternative therapies to help heal my mind, body, and spirit. For me, this gave me the ability to get off my anti-depressant and truly heal. As a doctor, I wanted to find a way to blend these new healing methods I was personally experiencing along with my traditional medical training. I knew there had to be a way!
During a trying shift in the ER, a medical student directed me to an Integrative Medicine program at the University of Arizona. I applied for a scholarship with BayCare Clinic, my request was granted and the rest, as they say, is history.
In 2015, I completed my fellowship there and began my Integrative Medicine medical practice. Outside of clinic, I love to help my community, local and worldwide, learn to practice holistic living to optimize their health and well-being. I’m honored to be on this journey with you. It is possible and it’s never too late to get started!
